4th Grade Project Based Learning

“What would you build on a playground for children your age?” Horizons at EA fourth graders are working in small groups this summer to plan, design and build their model of a playground. After research and discussion about different playgrounds, students got to work planning what they would like to build.

Next, students researched various equipment using industry catalogs and websites, and figured out costs to stay within their budget.

In Technology class, 4th graders made their initial blueprints. Tomorrow the class will use Minecraft to virtually build their group creations.

4th graders spend time every day reading and going over math concepts.

Upper School Horizons volunteers led a math lesson today using Kahoot!, an online game based classroom response system. Students had fun figuring out the answers to math problems on their whiteboards, entering results into Kahoot! on their i-pad and seeing the overall class results. Upper School Volunteers Caroline, Kelsey and Jack did a great job introducing the problems and explaining the answers!
